Industrial Services
2026
FermAxiom LLC's Industrial Services practice partners with industrial C6 & C5 Ethanol producers to diagnose,
validate, optimize, and support the core bioprocess operations that drive product yield, throughput, and cost
structure across fermented beverage, industrial ethanol, and a broad range of yeast- and
bacterial-fermentation manufacturing platforms. Our engagements span the full industrial spectrum:
fuel-ethanol dry-grind and wet-mill plants operating on corn, cane, sorghum, or alternative
feedstocks; beverage producers managing brewing, distilling, wine, and cider
fermentations; and specialty manufacturers running non-Saccharomyces yeast or bacterial
bioprocesses where consistency, contamination control, and product yield drive
profitability. Every engagement is grounded in data — pairing the FermAxiom Service
Team's operational depth in unit-process diagnostics, yeast and media management, and
plant-scale implementation with our R&D Analytics Group's bench- and
pilot-scale characterization, multi-variable surface-response
modeling, and kinetic validation. Each capability area
below opens a dedicated service line, structured to deliver measurable
improvements in fermentation efficiency, product yield, and cost structure for our
industrial, technology and research partners.
C6 BioProcess Service Plus
2026
C6 BioProcess Service Plus is a continuing technical support program for plants that want FermAxiom
involved in day-to-day bioprocess performance rather than in a single project. A designated Service Team
contact follows the plant's propagation, liquefaction, and fermentation data on an agreed schedule,
supported by a routine sampling and analysis program run by our R&D Analytics Group. Results
are reviewed against the plant's validated baseline, and trends in yield, residual sugars,
glycerol, organic acids, and yeast viability are reported before they become losses.
The program combines scheduled plant visits with remote access to the Service
Team for questions on yeast and media management, enzyme and nutrient
dosing, contamination control, and operating changes. Periodic review
meetings with plant management summarize performance, open
issues, and recommended actions, so that improvements made
during validation and optimization are maintained.
C6 BioProcess Validation
2026
C6 BioProcess Validation establishes a measured baseline of how the plant's bioprocess actually performs.
FermAxiom conducts a structured sampling campaign across grain handling, liquefaction, saccharification,
yeast propagation, fermentation, and distillation, and analyzes the samples in our R&D Analytics
Group laboratory alongside a review of the plant's own laboratory methods and records. The
data are used to close mass and carbon balances, quantify ethanol yield against theoretical,
and identify where fermentable carbon is lost to residual starch, residual sugars,
glycerol, organic acids, or contamination. Kinetic profiles from propagation and
fermentation are compared with design values and with industry benchmarks.
The engagement concludes with a validation report that documents the
baseline, ranks the identified gaps by their effect on yield and cost,
and defines the measurements needed to track them. The report
is the starting point for optimization or Service Plus work.
C6 BioProcess Optimization
2026
C6 BioProcess Optimization builds on the validated baseline to improve yield, throughput, and cost structure.
Candidate changes are first evaluated at bench and pilot scale by our R&D Analytics Group: solids loading,
temperature and pH profiles, enzyme and nutrient dosing, yeast strain and pitching rate, propagation
conditions, and fermentation strategy, including fed-batch and High-Density Yeast Cultivation
options. Multi-variable designed experiments and surface-response modeling identify the
combination of conditions with the greatest effect, and kinetic models fitted to the
results predict how those conditions will perform at plant scale. The Service
Team then implements the selected changes in the plant in planned steps, with
sampling at each step to confirm the predicted improvement before the next
change is made. Results are reported as measured changes in ethanol
yield, fermentation time, byproduct formation, and operating cost
relative to the baseline established during validation.
Emergency Technical Support
2026
Emergency Technical Support is available to plants facing an acute bioprocess problem: a stuck or sluggish
fermentation, a bacterial or wild-yeast contamination outbreak, a sudden loss of yield, excessive foaming,
high residual sugars, or poor propagation performance. Work begins with remote triage by the Service
Team, using the plant's operating data and recent laboratory results to narrow the likely causes
and recommend immediate measures to protect the fermentations in progress. Where needed,
samples are sent for expedited analysis by our R&D Analytics Group, and FermAxiom
personnel can be deployed to the plant to work alongside operations staff until the
process is stable. Once the immediate problem is resolved, a root-cause review
documents what happened, the corrective actions taken, and the changes in
monitoring or operating practice recommended to prevent a recurrence.
Plants already enrolled in Service Plus have their baseline data on
file, which shortens the time needed to diagnose an upset.
Product Performance Evaluation
2026
Product Performance Evaluation provides an independent assessment of the yeast strains, enzymes, nutrients,
antimicrobials, and process aids that a plant is using or considering. Products are compared under the plant's
own conditions, using its mash, backset, and operating profiles, first in controlled laboratory fermentations
and then, where justified, in plant-scale trials designed with sufficient replication to separate
product effects from normal process variation. Each trial measures ethanol yield and titer,
fermentation rate, residual sugars, glycerol and organic acids, and yeast viability, and
the results are analyzed statistically and translated into a cost per unit of ethanol
produced. Evaluations follow a protocol agreed with the plant in advance, and the
findings are reported in full whether or not they favor the product tested. The
same approach is used to verify supplier performance claims and to compare
FermAxiom yeast, enzyme, and HDYC products against current practice,
so that purchasing decisions are based on measured plant results.
